Job Summary
In your role as an environment manager, you will be in charge of delivering the EIA and ESIA from the development phase to the financial close stage and continuing to be in charge of environmental and social monitoring during the construction and operation phase, where you will be required to:
- To be in charge of overseeing the ESIA Implementation in accordance with the regulatory EIA and ESIA study that has been approved.
- To be accountable for collaborating with relevant authorities on local requirements and international standards.
- Act as the Company's representative at all EIA/ESIA-related meetings and consultation processes by attending and presenting.
- To take part in activities relating to project licensing
What you will do
- Oversee the completion and approval of environmental management and monitoring plans, for example, to ensure that all permit requirements are being fulfilled.
- Establish strong working connections with project stakeholders (such as the project team, lenders/banks, project investors, equity partners, etc.) and support the project team throughout the project financing lifecycle.
- Examine and participate in the development of field plans, data collection & survey instruments, and disclosure documents by consultants.
- Conducting the tendering processes and overseeing the project's ESIA and regulatory EIA work.
- Verify that the method and process suggested by the chosen consultant are reliable and completely documented so that Vietnamese and international standards may be satisfied and clearly shown (such as operating framework, clear and documented approach to Employer Requirements, formal meeting minutes, consent documents, agreements, etc).
- Examine the information gathered and the reports provided by consultants to make sure the analysis is thorough and appropriate for the ESIA and upcoming monitoring procedures.
- Assuming leadership in social studies, including but not limited to stakeholder involvement, concerns relating to ethnic minorities and indigenous people, land acquisition, and livelihood restoration planning support in accordance with Vietnamese regulations and international standards.
- Coordinate and manage challenging projects; make sure the consultant team possesses the necessary skill set to meet the deadlines;
- Manage several projects while adhering to project requirements for scope, money, and timeline, and make sure project deliverables meet quality standards.
- Create productive working relationships internally and work together with relevant authorities/parties from various technical communities
- Coach junior consulting personnel to help them advance their knowledge of impact assessment and project funding.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of expertise managing ESIAs in accordance with international standards (IFC, ADB, Equatorial, etc.) and regulatory frameworks in Vietnam.
- A bachelor's degree in a subject like environmental science, environmental engineering, or workplace health and safety.
- A master's degree in a field related to the environment is preferred.
- Have prior working ties with project developers, bankers, and corporations as well as experience developing relationships based on trust with project stakeholders.
- Able to undertake around 30% of trips to the site
- Have some international ESIA experience in Vietnam and Asia, particularly strong experiences and market intelligence in Renewable Energy in Vietnam
- English must be spoken, read, and written with ease.
- The capacity to examine data, come to findings, and make useful recommendations as a result of the analysis.
- Excellent verbal, writing, and data presentation abilities. Ability to communicate difficult-to-understand technical and complex information.
- Solid grasp of internet communication tools, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. An advantage is having knowledge of data management programs and technologies.
