Overview:
Our client is a global defense and aerospace company seeking an experienced International Business Development Lead to spearhead market expansion in Africa. This strategic role is ideal for a local expert with deep knowledge of the defense sector, government relations, and regional market dynamics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute go-to-market strategies to drive business growth in Africa, focusing on defense and aerospace.
- Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities with government agencies and key regional stakeholders.
- Manage and nurture relationships with clients, partners, and government bodies to ensure long-term success.
- Align local opportunities with the company’s global business strategy.
- Lead the preparation of bids, proposals, and RFPs for regional projects.
- Monitor geopolitical and market trends to identify opportunities and inform business strategy.
- Ensure full compliance with local laws, export regulations, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with legal, finance, and marketing teams to localize business strategies.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the regional team.
- Represent the company at industry events and trade shows in Africa.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Business, International Relations, or related field.
- 10–15 years’ experience in business development within the African market, preferably in defense/aerospace.
- Proven success in securing major contracts and navigating complex negotiations.
- In-depth knowledge of regional market conditions, defense regulations, and local compliance.
- Fluent in local languages and either English or French.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Familiar with defense export regulations and international trade laws.
