Our client is in the process of building the very first new Greenfield Primary Aluminium smelter complex in Vietnam. The Aluminium Smelter is a mega-scale industrial project. The Project Establishment, Engineering, Procurement, Project Management and Project Financing are being done in Hanoi at the Head office.
Job Summary
The Project Manager will be accountable for not only delivering all key responsibilities in line with the requirements and leadership guidance from the Project Director/ Managing Director and Technology provider but also for accurate high standards of implementing the Aluminum Project.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Work closely with the EPC contractor to deliver the project.
- Lead and Manage the Project team to meet the schedule, standards and requirements of the project and develops a detailed scope, cost, and schedule control baseline.
- Close Cooperation with the Technology provider.
- Develops Project Execution Plan (PEP)
- Coordinate and engage/select the Project Management Consultant (PMC), to deliver the project according to the agreed project systems.
- Coordinate with project teams from local and foreign companies to establish a professionally project-managed and delivered project.
- Represent the overall project to the different stakeholders.
- Monitors and controls all contractual commitments to assure that all work is being performed in accordance with the specifications, drawings, and terms of the contract.
- Establishes and manages processes for the early identification of any potential changes to all contracts and ensures that those changes are identified to the company. Ensures that appropriate contractual changes are formally authorized.
- Ensures that standards suite of tools and procedures are properly set up and deployed at the project.
- Oversee all discipline functions throughout the project lifecycle and ensures that the discipline leads actively manage best practices within each of their fields
- Ensure compliance with the project’s Environmental Management Plan.
- Responsible for hand-over the entire project to Operations teams;
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree (BSC) in Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 10 years of experience in managing Mega-scale projects.
- Experienced in a similar position.
- Working knowledge of engineering, project control systems and construction management
- Experience in a Greenfield or Brownfield Aluminum Smelter Project is a plus.
- Solid experience in management and team leadership skills for a large project.
- Ability to understand, develop and work on Project plans, Project Deliverable lists, Systems, Policies, and Procedures; Standards, Reports, Scheduling, cost control, budgets CAPEX and OPEX, HSE and Quality systems and procedures.
- Ability to work with several stakeholders and contractors from all disciplines,
- Ability to function well in a team environment with multiple nationalities.
- Commercial awareness in the Aluminium industry.
- Be accurate, precise, diligent, patient, and willing to lead as well as take a hands-on approach.
