Main responsibilities
- In charge of project management, local design and application engineering, site construction teams, and the smooth commissioning and handover of assigned client installations to Asset Management and client teams in Vietnam and Cambodia.
- Thorough knowledge of rooftop solar systems, as well as experience and knowledge of commercial boiler operations and bioenergy
- Lead the project design teams to provide the best possible balance of efficiency and cost while adhering to all HSE and quality criteria.
- Make certain that systems are properly sized and configured for a client's energy demand and production profile.
- Responsible for project creation in collaboration with the Business Development and Supply Chain departments, taking projects from award to pre-contract, procurement confirmation, and EPC/services contracting.
- Ensure the smooth transition of newly signed projects from the Business Development teams to the Execution teams.
- Act as technical lead in the selection of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) general contractors per project, as well as the development of a pool of EPC general contractors for pipeline projects, including scope of work and services, costing, and negotiations.
- Manage EPC and product supplier selection by preparing project tender packs (including design and specification criteria), analyzing bids to ensure they meet quality and specification requirements, and awarding construction packages to reduce costs.
- All EPC and subcontractor contracts must be reviewed and approved to guarantee compliance with standards and processes.
- During construction, acts as the primary execution liaison between the organization and its client base to handle concerns and consistently develop ties.
- Set up regular meetings with both clients and EPCs to guarantee effective communication during project mobilization, construction, testing, and handover.
- Supervise the given projects' EPC partners, project leaders, and subcontractors through designated Project Managers for the successful execution and completion of the projects on time, within budget, and within performance targets.
- Develop detailed project schedules, project cashflow estimates, and coordinate with the Finance teams to ensure adequate funds are available to achieve payment milestones.
- Continuously enhance and manage processes to ensure that sites meet HSE requirements.
- Through onsite management, monitoring, and snagging, continuously develop and manage procedures to ensure assets are constructed to the correct specification and quality throughout the building phase.
- Maintain close relationships with authorities, grid operators, regulators, market participants, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure that all systems meet local rules and licensing requirements.
- Ensure that all systems are built to meet all necessary technical standards and regulations, including gris operator requirements such as zero export limits or factory power factor.
- At the end of construction, supervise and refine the commissioning and PR testing procedures for solar assets.
- Responsible for ensuring that newly built assets meet their performance guarantees and duties as stipulated in building contracts.
- Liaise with the Group Head of Engineering, Procurement, and Execution to improve department processes and best practices on an ongoing basis.
- Provide comprehensive Project Execution reports on all constructing projects to the Group Head of Engineering, Procurement, and Execution in order to continuously control actual project schedule to budget.
- Direct communication with both the Owner's Engineers and the Center of Design Excellence (CODE) for project milestones, EPC contractor verification, provisional acceptance of mechanical completion, performance ratio testing for commissioning, and final acceptance to Operations status and handover to Asset Management/clients.
- Prepare and deliver monthly reports to Executive Management during the Monthly Business Review, including any deviations from project schedules or budgets, as well as plans to correct any problems that arise.
- Collaborate closely with the EHS manager to ensure that all Execution operations are carried out in a zero-incident manner.
- Lead cost-cutting efforts for our Execution activities.
Requirements
- Fluent in English, native Vietnamese or Cambodian speaker
- At least 10 years of experience in a similar job with considerable and demonstrated industry expertise in EPC and O&M is required.
- Thorough understanding of utility interconnections, as well as technical and legal requirements.
- Extensive project management knowledge (PMP certification or equivalent)
- Experience managing a team and a dedication to lead by example
- Energy modeling experience
- Able to make decisions and solve problems
- Knowledge of department and project budget processes and tools
- Risk evaluation and management
- MS Project Construction Project Management Systems
- Working knowledge of PVSYST
- Autocad and Sketchup knowledge is an advantage
- Ability to multitask (prioritize, organize, and schedule tasks)
- Good problem-solving skill (detect, analyze, study, assess, and resolve)
- Ability to lead (team building, coaching, mentoring, change management, and advising)
- Capability to deliver under duress while assisting peers in a collaborative atmosphere
- Strong communication, meeting, and interpersonal skilss in English
