Engineering Manager

    1. Responsibilities

    Strategy & Planning 

    • Lead the pre-testing phase of development by evaluating proposals in order to identify potential problem areas, and make the appropriate recommendations project/product’s stakeholders.
    • Participate in projects/products development lifecycle to make sure the delivery meets business requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requirements.
    • Analyze existing digital products and recommend improvement strategies to the senior leadership team (board of directors).
    • Coordinate feasibility studies for software and system product acquisitions.
    • Ensure new software integrations meet functional and compliance requirements.

    Team Leadership & Management

    • Lead and motivate software development teams, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
    • Manage talent acquisition, retention, and succession planning.
    • Conduct goals setting, and performance evaluations, provide coaching, and develop performance management strategies.
    • Provide technical guidance and stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices
    • Ensure software applications are designed and implemented according to industry standards.
    • Communicate project/product status updates, risks, and issues clearly and concisely.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration 

    • Establish and maintain strong communication channels between on-shore/near-shore and off-shore teams in Vietnam.
    • Develop and implement collaboration frameworks to ensure seamless integration.
    • Facilitate knowledge-sharing and cross-team learning initiatives.
    • Manage cultural differences and promote a unified organizational approach.

    Operational Excellence 

    • Direct application development teams across back-end, front-end, and AI/ML domains.
    • Manage multiple complex software development projects simultaneously.
    • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality software products.
    • Optimize development processes and implement efficiency improvements
    • Align business stakeholder’s demands with team capabilities and capacities.
    • Provide technical leadership to project/product managers and development teams.
    • Oversee the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), implementing best practices including Agile methodologies, DevSecOps, and continuous improvement.
    • Cultivate, disseminate, and enforce functional policies, procedures, and quality assurance best practices.
    • Where necessary, prepare, establish, and monitor budgets including headcounts & resource planning.

    2. Job Requirements 

    Education

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field.
    • Preferred: Certification/practical experience in CMMi, SAFe, Agile/SCRUM, COBIT, or Enterprise Architecture.

    Experience

    • 10+ years of progressive software development management experience.
    • 05+ years of experience managing offshore/distributed development teams.

    Knowledge

    • Proven track record of leading large, complex software development organizations.
    • Strong understanding of organizational goals and value mapping.
    • Excellent coordination and working in a matrix multinational organization.
    • Hands-on experience with software project management and software product lifecycle models.
    • Strong knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.

    Technical Skills 

    • Technically fluent in programming languages, including Java/.NET/python and development frameworks.
    • Experience with software management tools (Jira/Confluence, Azure DevOps).
    • Experience with AI, Generative AL, ML, Data BI…
    • Understanding of cloud-native applications, information security, and secured software development.
    • Expertise in microservices, containerization, and scalable system design.
    • Experience with software/system design patterns.
    • Experience with civil engineering software products is an advantage.
